THE HIGHLIGHTS OF ACTIVITIES AT THE INDIAN COMMUNITY SCHOOL, KUWAIT

Over the years, The Indian Community School, Kuwait, has grown and evolved to become the premier educational institution, with a vision to excel in all spheres rendering yeoman service to the Indian Diaspora in Kuwait. For more than half a century ICSK has been inspiring students, helping them discover and develop their latent talents and increasing their awareness and responsibility to the community around them and the world at large.

CHARITY

In order to empathize with the ‘less fortunate ones’ and to instill the feeling of compassion, empathy and the need to help the needy, the school has formed a ‘Charity Fund’ which is managed by a committee comprising of five students, five teachers and five parents to ensure that not a penny is misused or go to unworthy hands. A charity box is kept in each class and the students are urged to donate money by sacrificing their comforts. A Charity Convener is appointed for each class and the selection is made every month. The best Charity Convener is chosen among them and is appreciated with the title ‘Goodwill Ambassador’ each month. Every month an amount of about 1000 KD (Rs/- Two Lakhs) is handed over to the persons in need personally by the members of the ‘Charity Fund’. Students also collect food items and essential things and visit the labour camps to distribute them at regular intervals.

ICSK shows the way with Haiyan Relief

ICSK organized ‘Relief Haiyan’ program as a humanitarian gesture to help the victims of Haiyan that claimed the lives of more than 10,000 people in Philippines, thereby, becoming the first school in Kuwait to support disaster recovery and relief efforts in response to the super typhoon that tore into the Philippines.

When Chennai was hit by the century’s worst flood, the children of ICSK raised to the occasion to donate money as well as essential materials reiterating their commitment towards society.

The students of ICSK are the flag bearers in holding up the values of empathy and social commitment. The management, staff and students of The Indian Community School Kuwait, joined hands to alleviate the sufferings by contributing Rs/-302779 to the flood affected people of Kashmir.

ICSK TAKES SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN BEYOND CLASSROOMS

Students of ICSK have taken the initiative the Swachh Bharat- Swachh Vidyalaya drive beyond classrooms. School is encouraging hygiene and sanitation related activities as it has asked students to ensure that the vicinity around their residence is kept clean. Students were enthusiastic after they cleaned their schools and were eager to step out to ensure that the city is also maintained clean. In every two months, they go to the labour camps and clean the rooms and toilets to help our countrymen live in healthy surroundings.

EPICS- THE HARD COPY OF THE MONTHLY MAGAZINE EPICS WHICH DENOTES

E: Emotional, P: Physical, I: Intellectual, C:Cultural and S:Spiritual, is circulated among the students and the softcopy sent to the parents every month, it being the first of its kind in Kuwait and among the students of the ICSK to open a window for expressing their latent creative talent through writing. The imagination and creativity of the young talented students of ICSK are also expressed through the yearly MANUSCRIPT MAGAZINES of their respective classes, in addition to the Annual Magazine INSPIRE.

AN EDUCATION WITH VALUES & CULTURAL FIESTAS

Paradigm

ICSK’s own Arts fest, started in the year 2013, lends an electrifying atmosphere and makes the campus vibrant with sparks of creativity and talents. The days are filled with colours, music-vocal as well as instrumental and dance, rendering an air of celebration, rejuvenating the children from the mundane.

Indian Schools’ Mega Arts Fest

An Interschool art festival was organized by the school with more than 80 different types of items in various categories in 2 days, 4 venues from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm with participation of more than 2000 students from 22 Indian Schools in Kuwait.

SWARANJALI

ICSK saw a long cherished dream of it turn into reality by the blooming of 'Swaranjali' – the ICSK musical band. Only the students of ICSK are a part of it. This school band gives professional performances outside and is solely managed by the students. There are thirty five students in the band handling the instruments as well as rendering their vocals.

CLUBS

ICSK believes that extra-curricular activities greatly enrich the school experience of our students. The students gain skills that develop into life-long pursuits through various clubs which were inaugurated during the year like Science Club, Nature Club, Career Guidance Club, Language Club, Drama Club, Mathematics Club, Commerce Club, Wellness Club, Photography Club, Students Council Club, Quiz Club, Shramdaan Club, and Arts Club. The clubs gave opportunity to execute various activities pertaining to their clubs.

LITERARY LAUNCH

ICSK has always encouraged the youth, who have an exalted perception of the world that is not limited or weighed down by reality. To recognize the voice of the youth, the school decided to launch the novel of Ms. Carlin Philip, a budding talent of the school.

HARVEST: ICSK’S FIELDS YIELD HOPE

The fraternity of the Indian Community School, Kuwait witnessed an exceptional and thought provoking event when the nature club of the school harvested varieties of vegetables which were cultivated by the energetic members of Nature club. Indubitably, this gave an impetus to the student community of the magnitude of consuming organic food that is free from chemicals.

HOMAGE TO MARTYRS

In a most unique and unprecedented gesture ICSK paid tribute to the memory of the Jawans of Indian Army who were martyred in the attack in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir. The programme 'Homage to Martyrs' also launched a 'KD 1 campaign' in line with the Re. 1 fund for the families of Indian Defence Personnel. It was an unmatched initiative to make the children aware of the cost the soldiers pay to ensure the safety of the nation.
